Novation Update

An update from Novation

We feel a responsibility to our community during these difficult times. We know that so many of our customers — musicians, performing artists, engineers and weekend warriors alike — are facing tough times ahead. For those in the creative communities needing support and advice, we have compiled guidance from several music-focussed organisations. As every day passes, more and more localised efforts are being set up to support communities around the world, so we encourage you to check your local networks for the latest advice in your area. You can also connect with us directly online through our social channels — it’s good to talk!

Below, you’ll find links for organisations in the UK and the USA.

In the UK
Help Musicians is an independent UK charity for professional musicians. They have published a comprehensive guide to help musicians monitor the situation and find help if and when they need it.

Music Support, another UK-based charity, have a helpline to assist those in need: +44 (0)800 030 6789. The UK government have issued this advice to business owners and the self-employed.

In the USA
Several cities and states, including New York City, are offering financial relief to small businesses and freelancers. A COVID-19 & Freelancers web site has been set up as a resource to help artists and freelancers get support and advice. Music Cares, the Recording Academy’s organisation to help people in the music industry, can offer financial support and advice to those in need.

If you have time to get creative
For some music makers, spending time in isolation means time to create. For those Novation users finding themselves at home with time on their hands, we’ve got some suggestions of ways to inject some (free) inspiration.

Novation Components hosts a whole world of extra creativity, including free patches for Peak and Summit — you can access over 1000 sounds from some of our favourite artists and sound designers, and we’re adding more. If you’re a Launchpad Mini [MK3], Launchpad Pro [MK3] or Launchpad X owner, Components is also the place where you can program your Custom Modes to transform your Launchpad’s capabilities. Head to Components to discover more.

The Novation Sound Collective is where we add free plug-ins, sounds and special offers every couple of months, and it’s open to all Novation customers. You’ll also find a load of software in your Novation user account, which you can access here: customer.novationmusic.com

If you’ve ever wanted to embrace the world of Found Sounds — recording your own sounds to use in your compositions and music making experiments — we have an inspirational guide just for you. Download it here: Found Sound Guide.

Lastly, the Novation Hacker’s Guide is designed to inspire you to push your creative boundaries, by using technology in new and original ways. It’s full of ideas, inspiration and tips for turning your music-making workflow on its head. Download here.

Online special interest groups are great places to get inspired, participate in experiences with others, and maintain contact with the outside world. For lovers of synthesizers, check out the Synth Owners Facebook Group. If you’re a Circuit Owner, there’s a Facebook Group just for you, where you can find likeminded users sharing settings and patches - Circuit Owners.

At this difficult moment, we extend our support to everyone affected by the current situation. We encourage you to look after yourself and others and, above all, heed the advice of your local governments and health experts.
